Islamic Law and Local Wisdom is a scientific journal published by the Faculty of Law, Muslim University of Indonesia. This journal contains publication ethics guidelines that apply to all parties involved in the article publishing process, including authors, editors-in-chief, editorial board, reviewers, and publishers. This commitment to publication ethics standards aims to ensure the integrity, objectivity, and scientific quality of every published work.
Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication
Publication of articles in the journal Islamic Law and Local Wisdom is an important part of building a coherent, sustainable, and mutually understanding network of knowledge. This process reflects the scientific quality of the authors' work and the credibility of the institutions that support it. The articles published in this journal contribute to the development of scientific methods in the study of law, especially Islamic law and local wisdom.
In this regard, an agreement is needed on the ethical standards that apply to all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, publishers, and the scientific community in general. The Faculty of Law, Universitas Muslim Indonesia, as the publisher of Islamic Law and Local Wisdom , is fully committed to maintaining the integrity of every article published and deeply understands the ethical responsibilities that accompany it.
We uphold the ethics of publication and are responsible for not promoting, reprinting, or commercial printing of journal content unauthorizedly. In addition, the Faculty of Law UMI together with the editorial board will always support constructive communication with other journals or publishers if needed to resolve ethical or administrative issues.
This journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and will take firm action against any violations, such as plagiarism or data manipulation. Every author submitting an article to Islamic Law and Local Wisdom must declare that the manuscript is an original work, has not been published before, and is not under review at another journal. This ethical commitment refers to COPE's Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors as the main guideline.
Decision of Publication
The editor of Islamic Law and Local Wisdom holds the primary responsibility for deciding which articles should be published in the journal. This decision is based on the scientific validity and relevance of the article to the scope of the journal and its contribution to the development of research and academic discussion.
In carrying out their duties, editors may refer to the editorial policies set by the editorial board and are subject to applicable legal provisions, including but not limited to issues of defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. In addition, editors have the right to consult and coordinate with other editors and reviewers. to ensure fair, objective and transparent editorial decisions.
Justice Aspects
Editors always translate texts for the objective intellectual content of the authors, without regard to race, sexual orientation, part of speech, religious beliefs, ethnicity, citizenship, or political views of the authors.
Confidentiality
The editor and any editorial staff must disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other appropriate editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.
Editor's Duties
The editor is responsible for deciding which articles should be published after going through a rigorous review process. This decision should always be based on the scientific validity and the significant contribution of the article to the academic community, both for researchers and the general readership. In carrying out their duties, editors may refer to the editorial policies established by the editorial board, and must comply with applicable legal provisions, including provisions regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism. Editors may also consult with other editors or peer reviewers in making decisions about publication.
Fairness and Objectivity Editors are required to evaluate manuscripts fairly and objectively, based solely on their intellectual quality and scientific contribution, without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.
Confidentiality . Editors and all members of the editorial team are prohibited from disclosing any information related to the submitted manuscript to anyone other than the author, peer reviewers, potential peer reviewers, members of the editorial board, and the publisher, as required by the editorial process.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest . Editors must not use unpublished materials or data contained in a manuscript under review for their own personal or research purposes without the express written consent of the author. Editors should also avoid any form of conflict of interest that might affect their objectivity in reviewing the manuscript.
Reviewer's Duties
Reviewer play an important role in the editorial process by contributing to publishing decisions. Reviewers assist editors in evaluating the scientific quality, originality, and relevance of submitted manuscripts. In addition, through constructive input, reviewers can also help authors improve the content and structure of the manuscript, thereby improving the overall quality of the publication.
Readiness
Any reviewer selected to review a manuscript should notify the editor immediately if he/she feels that he/she does not have sufficient competence to evaluate the manuscript objectively, or if he/she does not have enough time to complete the review process within the specified time limit. In such cases, the reviewer is expected to immediately withdraw from the review process in order to maintain the quality and efficiency of the editorial process.
Confidentiality
Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be distributed, copied, or discussed with others without the explicit permission of the editor. Reviewers must not compare or discuss submitted manuscripts with other manuscripts, either under review or published, unless specifically requested by the editor in the context of a relevant scientific review.
Objectivity Standards
Reviews provided by reviewers must be objective and based on fair scientific assessment. Personal criticism of the author is not permitted and is considered unethical. Any comments or evaluations must be delivered constructively, accompanied by clear, logical arguments that support the assessment, to assist editors in decision making and help authors improve the quality of the manuscript.
Source Recognition
Reviewers should identify relevant work that has not been cited by the authors that is of significant relevance to the topic under consideration. If an observation, statement, derivation, or argument has been previously published, the reviewer should ensure that this is appropriately acknowledged and referenced by the author. In addition, a reviewer should promptly notify the editor of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper by the same authors or by others.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Any information or ideas obtained during the review process must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage or the benefit of any party. Reviewers must maintain the integrity of the evaluation process by declining to review any potential conflicts of interest. Such conflicts may include personal, professional, competitive, or collaborative relationships with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers. In such situations, the reviewer should promptly notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process.
Author's Duties
Reporting Standards
Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate and honest description of the work performed, including an objective analysis of the significance of the findings. The underlying data should be presented transparently and accurately in the manuscript and should be structured in a manner that permits other researchers to replicate or verify the results.
Manuscripts must contain sufficient methodological details, data, and references to support scientific transparency. The presentation of inaccurate, misleading, or deliberately manipulated information is considered a serious violation of research ethics and is unacceptable in scientific publications.
Data Access and Retention
Authors are requested to provide the raw data relevant to the manuscript to the editorial team upon request, as part of the scientific verification process. Authors are also encouraged to provide public access to such data, to the extent possible and in accordance with applicable privacy policies or regulations. Regardless, authors are required to retain such research data for a reasonable period after publication, to support transparency and replication of research results.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors should ensure that the work they have written is original and has not been published before. If the author uses the work, data, or statements of others, this must be cited appropriately and in accordance with applicable academic standards. Any form of plagiarism, whether direct or indirect, including the use of words or ideas without adequate attribution, is a serious violation of publishing ethics and is unacceptable.
Multiple, Redundant and Simultaneous Publications
Authors should not publish manuscripts describing substantially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently, without notification or approval from the editor, seriously violates publishing ethics and is unacceptable. This practice is detrimental to scientific integrity and may lead to confusion in citations and academic evaluation.
Source Recognition
Authors are required to provide appropriate acknowledgement of the work of others that has been influential in the reported research. Any publications, ideas, or results used in the manuscript should be cited appropriately to ensure appropriate credit is given to sources that have contributed to the development of the research. Accurate acknowledgement not only reflects scientific integrity but also promotes transparency and accountability in academia.
List of Manuscript Writers
Authorship should only include individuals who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, implementation, or interpretation of the reported results. All those who have contributed substantially to these aspects should be listed as co-authors. Individuals or others who have contributed to certain substantive aspects of the research project, such as data collection or statistical analysis, should be acknowledged as contributors. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all relevant authors are included in the manuscript and that no unqualified authors are omitted. In addition, the corresponding author should also ensure that all authors have checked and approved the final version of the manuscript and given their consent for submission to publication.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
All authors are required to disclose any conflicts of interest, whether substantive or financial, that might be construed as influencing the results or interpretation of their manuscript. This disclosure should be made clearly in the text of the manuscript. In addition, all sources of financial support related to the research project should be transparently disclosed, including relevant research grants, grants, or sponsorships. Material not approved by the authors or not stated in the proposed manuscript must not be used in research, and editors must not proceed with publication without the authors' explicit consent. This is to ensure that the rights of authors and others are protected.
Fundamental Mistakes in Published Works.
If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author's responsibility to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher. The author should cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper in accordance with applicable procedures to ensure scientific integrity and the quality of the publication.
